One of the best places to choose to visit in Albania and one of the most beautiful sites not just in Albania but in Europe is
Komani Lake, the region where
Shala River flows.
Situated approximately: 130 KM from Tirana, 141 KM from Durres, 54 KM from Shkoder, the river is found deep into the
Albanian Alps. To reach the Komani port, you need to enter a 400-meter tunnel.
After crossing the tunnel, you will hit a wall of people. The port is very dense with people and boats. There are several companies that offer different kind of boat trips in Komani, with the most famous one and the standard being the boat trip to Zgiboze.
Once you leave the port by 9:30 AM, the quietness and beauty of nature will sink in. You will experience a breath taking 90 minutes boat ride by Shala River in between mountains to one of the most remote, wild nature sites in Albania. You will reach in Zgiboze at about 11 AM and you will have a full 4 hours to experience and explore the region.
Zgiboze is a beach like region but in the mountains and a very high altitude. The terrain to some people looks like the beach areas in Thailand, this is why many people call it “The Thailand of Europe”.
The beauty of the
